It’s a collaborative workspace with meeting rooms, a technological brainstorming laboratory and a vast corporative space, all dedicated to digital entertainment. It can rely on a very dynamic entrepreneurial community recognized in 2014 as the most promising initiative in the field of entrepreneurial culture in Québec. Its scope goes beyond the borders of Shawinigan: it supports other communities throughout the Mauricie region and even elsewhere in Quebec! Moreover, it is the only Quebec entrepreneurial community that held a 2nd entrepreneurial forum and presented a 2nd<>/sup 4-year action plan.
A recognized entrepreneurial LEADERSHIP
Until 2009, Shawinigan was below the provincial average in terms of entrepreneurial index. Today, not only does it find itself well above this average, but has also become a leader in the field, a leader in entrepreneurship and an example to follow across Québec. We understand why Shawinigan has become the focus of attention when we look at the statistics in connection with entrepreneurship. In 2010, the intentions to start a business in Shawinigan were 5.6% but jumped to 7.1% in 2013. The percentage of those intending to go into business between 18-34 years in Shawinigan is 29.6%. It exceeds that of all of Quebec, which is 25%. In Shawinigan, the 18-34 year olds are more strongly represented as business owners, at 12.5%, while at 4.8% for Quebec as a whole.
